100 % Australian privately owned company Krispy Kreme Australia has a proud history of being the first country outside of North America to serve the premium quality doughnuts and coffee.
Krispy Kreme Australia started producing the first hot Original Glazed doughnuts "down under” in 2003, later launching into Melbourne and Canberra in mid 2006. Today we have 48 stores, including our first two retail stores recently opened in Queensland.
We’ve adapted the Krispy Kreme experience and products to suit the Australian market, offering not only the iconic Original Glazed doughnut, but also a vast range of quality treats including 15 doughnut varieties, fresh espresso coffee, premium Ice Kreme and “slurpy-licious” spiders and milkshakes.
Krispy Kreme Australia holds the rights to developing Krispy Kreme throughout Australia and New Zealand. All of our stores are company owned to ensure a consistent quality product and brand experience. Therefore there are no local franchise opportunities available.
On 19 June 2008, Krispy Kreme Australia will celebrate its 5th Birthday, marking our first store opening at Penrith, Sydney!
The history of Krispy Kreme and its founder, Vernon Rudolph, dates back to 1937 when legend has it Vernon won a secret yeast-raised doughnut recipe in a poker game from a French chef!
On July 13, in the same year, the first Krispy Kreme doughnuts were made and sold at Vernon’s new shop in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. To this day the secret recipe is kept safe in a vault in Winston Salem.
All Krispy Kreme doughnuts are cooked fresh daily at our Factory Stores. When we’re making our Original Glazed Doughnuts, we switch on the “Hot Now” light, so that you can always tell when were serving our Original Glazed are hot and fresh.
